Books & Magazines
Apple, Artcenter, etc.
My work has been featured in numerous publications such as All Things D (Wall Street Journal), Fast Company Magazine, Byliner, I.D. magazine, MacLife, iCreate, PhotoLife, Verge, Little Brown and Company and Peach Pit Press. I have been a visiting lecturer at Art Center College of Design, The Otis College of Design and Stanford University and Central Saint Martins in London. I have been also a speaker and panelist at numerous events, most recently at the California College of the Arts, and others. I’ve all been regularly invited by Fast Company magazine’s “Innovation Uncensored” conference in 2013.
Most efforts to explain design at Apple end up reducing a complex 37-year history to bromides about simplicity, quality, and perfection—as if those were ambitions unique to Apple alone. So Fast Company set out to remedy that deficiency through an oral history of Apple's design, a decoding of the signature as told by the people who helped create it. A longer version of the story that includes material not published elsewhere is available in the Byliner original ebook, Design Crazy. Huawei
When I joined (and decided to leave) Huawei, I made a few headlines, too. Here are a few selected pieces that were written about me.
Huawei Consumer Website: HUAWEI Consumer BG Appoints Ms. Abigail Sarah Brody as Chief Designer of User Experience (UX); CNBC: Huawei hires Apple’s former creative director Abigail Brody; Patently Apple; the Verge: Huawei poaches former iPhone designer to lead its software team;
The Information: wrote about both, my arrival (How a Former Apple Designer is Updating Huawei’s Look) and departure at Huawei.
I also taught a class about ‘the new aesthetic’ on behalf for Huawei at London’s Central Saint Martin’s School of Design. Alex Rumford took the photos on campus. More about the ‘Spectra’ project in the Huawei section of my site.
